Penguin Party

This card in a box is for my daughter's birthday.  My daughter is turning 14 and just loves penguins. The card is winter themed for her February birthday even though the weather here in SoCal has been like summer. Believe me I'm not complaining but we sure could use some rain.

Isn't this so fun and cute?  I used Create a Critter 2 for the penguins. I cut them at 2.25  and 2.5inches.  I used DCWV Arctic Wishes Stack for the sparkly papers as well as some glitter paper for the snow and the accessories. The Happy Birthday banner is from the Artiste cartridge. I glued a tiny pompom to the birthday hat and made earmuffs as well.

The snowflakes are from Michaels Recollections line.  They had them real cheap right before Christmas. Again I used the clear outer plastic seal from my Cricut cartridges to attach the snowflakes to look like they are falling. The ribbon is from American crafts.

The box folds down and I can put it in an envelope. These card in a box cards are so fun and easy to make. I think I am addicted! They are exploding all over Pinterest and I just love them.  There is even a smaller one that fits in a standard sized envelope that I might have to try.  They fit perfectly in these foil lined envelopes that I have leftover from my Costco photo Christmas cards. I got my measurements from http://callalilystudioblog.blogspot.com/. She has done several of these boxes and I love them all!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you are all keeping warm this winter :)

"Card In A Box" Pandamonium Card

Happy New Year everyone! I can't believe the holidays have come and gone! I have been busy with all the busy things life throws at us. I have been crafting a little but then forget to take pictures of my projects (and mostly because I'm usually late, blowing on the glue to dry as I shove a card in the envelope as I am running out the door). Today I have a special "card-in-a-box" to show you that has been very popular on pinterest. I made it for my special niece who likes pandas and is 19 years old! Yikes, where did the time go? So here it is:
I got the idea from a Christmas "card in a box" pin from Calla Lily Studio. Her blog is
http://callalilystudioblog.blogspot.com/  I love her work she is so talented!
I followed her measurements and I am so happy with the outcome! Isn't it cute?

The pandas are from the Create a Critter Cartridge. The party hat, balloons, and present are from the Create a Critter 2 Cartridge. The nineteen is from the Artiste Cartridge. The grass is from the Zooballoo Cartridge. I used these butterfly shaped rhinestones and attached them to clear plastic strips that I cut from the factory sealed plastic cover that comes with my Cricut cartridges. I have been saving them for a while now and finally they came in handy! The butterflies sway and look like they are flying. I also attached a plastic strip behind the balloons to help support the weight of the heavy glitter cardstock from DCWV. The papers are from K&Company "Poppyseed" stacks that I just got from Joanne's on clearance.
The glittery purple ribbon I got from Walmart around Halloween time. The stamps are a mixture of My Pink Stamper, Pink By Design and a Birthday set that I've had for a while. I can't remember which stamp was from which set, sorry.
For the backside I used a strip of white cardstock just as recommended and I will write our message to her on this. I should have written on it before I glued it, lol, but this is my first time trying this project so I will know better for next time.
This is the neatest thing....It folds flat so I can stick it in an envelope and mail it!! How cool is that? I will use my Making Memories Envelope Punch to make an envelope tomorrow. Can't wait to play with that for the first time. The card measures about 5.5" x 6.5" when folded flat. The biggest challenge for me was lining everything up on the inserts so it could all be seen.
I am so happy with this sparkly and happy card and I hope my niece likes it. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day :)
