Smaug Happy Birthday Card

Hello friends! Today is my hubby's birthday and I made

a special card for him....

We are big fans of The Hobbit and The Lord of The Rings. I am so happy that I found this adorable Smaug image on google. I wish I knew the artist to give credit because I am in love with it! I made it into an svg to make hubby this card. I am getting better at making my own svg's using Make The Cut software. I wasn't sure if it was still supported but I emailed the company and they promised they would be doing more updates so I purchased it. This svg turned out terrific! I love that I can make any themed card I choose for my family and friends! I made it pretty big, sized at 5.5"x 7.5". I like to make my birthday cards big like the store bought ones so they don't disappear and look so tiny next to them when displayed, LOL!

I wish the pics did this justice.... I love the gold shimmery foil background that reminds me of dragon scales. I love the gold glittery paper for the heart and the sparkly Arkenstone (The Heart of the Mountain). I used a blue metallic pen to outline the stone for added dimension and then topped it off with iridescent Stickles. I added the gold coins for effect. I think they were from Create A Critter. I drew on the sparkly spots using an orange glittery gel pen. They would have been way too tiny to cut out. Its sparkly and shimmery yet still masculine! The label is from the Fabulous Finds cartridge and I wrote out the sentiment since I didn't have a stamp (I should have typed it out, I hate my writing, lol!)

I distressed the inside panel to match the label on the front. I used Jaded Blossom So Many Birthdays 2 for the inside sentiment. He loved his card and said it was the best one I've made, yay!

Craftin Desert Divas March Release Blog Hop Day 2

Welcome to Day 2 of the CDD March Stamp Release Blog Hop.

Here's what I've created for you...

I made a barn card using the new Farm Living stamps. First I designed my card in Cricut Design Space. I used wood background paper from DCWV. My card base is bigger than an A2 and measures 6 3/8 x 4.5. I'm trying not to do birthday cards in the A2 size anymore. They are soooo small and look so tiny next to all the store bought cards. I find that my cards get a bigger reaction when they are bigger in size LOL! I used the Fabulous Finds cartridge to cut the hinges and I just altered a circle shape to make the latch and attached it with a brad.

When you open the panel these cuties are here to greet you. I stamped and embossed all the critters and colored them up with my Copics and SN markers. The sentiment is from the Punny Farm stamps and I masked off part of it to fit in the stitched label from the Banner Dies. I used the Outdoor Landscape Dies for the stitched grass.

Holiday Train Tag Card

Happy Thursday everyone! Today I am writing my 99th blog post! I have been a blog stalker since I got my first Cricut in 2006 but I only became brave enough to start blogging these past 2 years. There are so many talented bloggers like you and I continue to admire all the amazing things that you all do. I feel blessed that we have this opportunity to share and get inspired. I don't have any crafty friends in my day to day life so having my blog friends means so much to me. I am so thankful for those of you who come by and visit!

I have a tag card I want to share with you!

When I saw this train file from Too Cute By Jessica I knew I wanted to make it! I don't use a ton of die cuts with my scrapbooking and wondered how in the heck was I going to fit this on a card. So I thought to myself I need to do a triple fold card somehow. I remembered there were some fabulous cuts on my Fabulous Finds cartridge and chose this cut for my card base. I cut it at fit to page and it is about 6.25 inches tall and folds up to be 3.75" wide.

When I showed this to my hubby he said to me "You should add some smoke to the train." Duh! I forgot to add the little poofs of smoke!!! Darn it! Well I did after and you will have to trust me that it looks even better, lol! Don't you hate when you lose or misplace little pieces or forget to add them?

The sentiment is from Craftin Desert Diva's. I used a lot of card stock scraps for this and the Christmas papers are from Recollections and a Mambi Sheets stack.

I added sparkle to the candy wheels and snow using my Wink of Stella pen and popped some of the cuts up with foam tape for dimension. I used some snowflake brads and the peppermint candy is from Recollections.
