This card in a box is for my daughter's birthday. My daughter is turning 14 and just loves penguins. The card is winter themed for her February birthday even though the weather here in SoCal has been like summer. Believe me I'm not complaining but we sure could use some rain.
Isn't this so fun and cute? I used Create a Critter 2 for the penguins. I cut them at 2.25 and 2.5inches. I used DCWV Arctic Wishes Stack for the sparkly papers as well as some glitter paper for the snow and the accessories. The Happy Birthday banner is from the Artiste cartridge. I glued a tiny pompom to the birthday hat and made earmuffs as well.
The snowflakes are from Michaels Recollections line. They had them real cheap right before Christmas. Again I used the clear outer plastic seal from my Cricut cartridges to attach the snowflakes to look like they are falling. The ribbon is from American crafts.
The box folds down and I can put it in an envelope. These card in a box cards are so fun and easy to make. I think I am addicted! They are exploding all over Pinterest and I just love them. There is even a smaller one that fits in a standard sized envelope that I might have to try. They fit perfectly in these foil lined envelopes that I have leftover from my Costco photo Christmas cards. I got my measurements from http://callalilystudioblog.blogspot.com/. She has done several of these boxes and I love them all!
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you are all keeping warm this winter :)

Hi Tina! Well isn't this just a box of pure happiness?! :o) What a treat for your daughter's birthday... she will treasure it always. I've seen this card in a box creations and am certainly intrigued to try my hand at one soon. I love your penguin theme, the gorgeous snowflakes, and of course the sweet poms! You know I love the little details. :o) Lovely work on this truly inspired project! :o)
ReplyDeleteAlso, I wanted to answer a question you left me last week! (I apologize for the delay... I have been immersed in completing my little gifts on time for Baylee, as the deadline is coming far too quickly and I am frustratingly behind.) My crafty area is small.. I'm talking teeny tiny. There's no chance to have two die-cut machines up and running, so my Cricut is still in hibernation in favor of my Cameo. I first started making cards with my Cricut so it holds fond memories... perhaps it will make an appearance again at some point! Thank you for the lovely words... I appreciate it more than I can say! :o)
Hugs and blessings!
